Ice swimming in summer – benefits
Our vitality pool is the heart of the health zone. Its year-round temperature of around 12°C is perfect for winter swimming, which is now also available in the summer. Winter swimming is the practice of immersing oneself in cold water, which brings a range of health and vitality benefits. Here are some of them:
1. Strengthening the immune system:
– Regular winter swimming supports the immune system, increasing its ability to fight infections.
– Exposure to cold water stimulates the production of white blood cells, which are key for the body's defense.
2. Improving blood circulation:
– Quick transitions between the hot sauna and cold water cause blood vessels to dilate and constrict, which improves circulation.
– Better blood circulation contributes to better oxygenation of tissues and organs.
3. Stress reduction and improved well-being:
– Immersion in cold water triggers endorphins, known as happiness hormones, which improve mood.
– Regular winter swimming can help reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone.
4. Increased energy and vitality:
– Cold water acts as a natural stimulant, giving an immediate energy boost.
– Stimulating the body through cold baths can increase concentration and productivity throughout the day.
5. Improved skin condition:
– Cold water helps close pores, which can improve the skin's appearance.
– Regular winter swimming can also improve skin elasticity and reduce swelling.
6. Alleviation of muscle and joint pain:
– Cold baths can relieve muscle and joint pain, aiding recovery after physical exertion.
– Cold therapy is often used in treating inflammation and sports injuries.
